Mr Tolbert Mhlangabezi Golela
Tolbert Mhlangabezi Golela holds a National Diploma in biotechnology as well as a BTech in Biomedical Technology from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. During the course of his Btech, he worked as a research assistant under Professor SKO Ntwampe on a variety of projects as well as tutoring third year students in Bioprocess Engineering, Biochemistry and Biotechnology courses. Tolbert’s research interests include Thiocyanate degradation, antibiotics production, acid mine drainage (AMD) and Bioprocessing engineering. In 2014, he reached the final of the CPUT student innovation competition in 2014 with the business idea ''Optimization of biodiesel production from waste and animal fats” and the design of the Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) using beads and wire in 2012. He is currently doing an internship at the Centre for Bioprocess Engineering, University of Cape Town and plans to pursue a Master’s degree.
