Dr Palesa Diale
Palesa Diale joined CeBER as a postdoctoral fellow in June 2015 after completing her PhD through the University of Witwatersrand. Her PhD focused on investigating the efficacy of a biological-based approach to dealing with toxic heavy metal contamination by acid mine drainage, using microalgae of genus Desmodesmus sp. encapsulated into Ca-alginate matrix. In joining CeBER, she seeks to broaden her research expertise in using principles in biology, chemistry and engineering to develop solutions to environmental problems, mainly for water pollution control and remediation from acid mine drainage.
