Bioprocess Platform

Bioprocess pilot-scale equipment with instrumentation Recently commissioned, the Bioprocess Platform laboratory is a new facility which was created to assist industry or other academic institutions with research relating to microbial cultivation and downstream recovery of value-added products. The online state-of-the-art Applikon fermentation equipment set-up includes a water chiller, a steam generator, a GEA separator (centrifuge), a 70 L steel bioreactor (sterilised by steam), autoclavable glass bioreactors, and Applikon control units (controlled by Applikon ez-Control software). Overall, the bioreactors can be used for mammalian cell-culture cultivation or microbial processes, including bacteria, yeast, insect, fungi and plant cells.
