Mr Tichaona Samkange
Appointed as CeBER Lab Manager in 2014, Tich is responsible for the overall management of the research laboratories’ resources and infrastructure; management and maintenance of research instrumentation; development and implementation of ‘best laboratory practice’ skills and knowledge; and the logistics, coordination and induction of Chemical Engineering Honours students’ projects.
Tich joined the Ministry of Health (Zimbabwe) as an apprentice in Electrical Engineering (LC) in 1991, and obtained NTC (1996), and NHD (2002) in Instrumentation and Control Systems from Harare Polytechnic (Zimbabwe). Between 2003 and 2014, Tich operated as the Chief Technical Officer (Electronics) in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Rhodes University. He was responsible for the repairing, servicing, maintenance and procurement of research and teaching instrumentation used in the teaching and research laboratories. In 2009 he graduated with an MBA from Rhodes University.
